Great bag. Well made, perfect size for solo travel., July 11, 2010

I bought this bag needing a rolling bag that held a lot but wasn’t overly large, for a 2 week trip to Europe. Normally I use a backpack but this time I had a daypack that held my valuables and a water bladder for day hikes, so I needed something that I could drag along behind me with all my other things. This bag survived 4 flights, being dragged across gravel roads, through fields at campsites, buses, trains, and everything else I could throw at it, and came out the other end with only a few small scuffs. The material seems very high quality and it’s got plenty of pockets to keep all your stuff organized and separated. It’s a great size for a 6 foot person; you don’t feel like you’re bent over when using the telescoping handle, and seems a great combination of lightweight vs. durable. Not too big, not too small. Comfortably held a tent, lightweight inflatable mattress, and all my clothes with room to spare. The zippers slide smoothly and are very much up to the standards to that of the bag. Didn’t want to spend a lot but didn’t want a bag that would fall apart either. Definitely exceeded my expectations. Highly recommended product.

I got back two weeks ago from my first trip with this bag, a 12 day wintertime adventure in three cities, w/o access to laundry. It worked brilliantly. The shoe pocket is fantastic, and there’s tons of room. The bag itself is fairly light, and I managed to fill it to capacity w/o hitting the weight limits for the airlines.

The Tarmac 25 weighs the same as my old 22" Atlantic as they cleverly use different fabric types in different parts of the bag depending on potential wear points. The zippers and wheels feel very sturdy. Finally, the "no matter what" warranty sealed the deal for me. I am preparing for a 6 week trip to Europe and usually only take a 22″ suitcase and a duffle, however this trip warranted a larger main suitcase, however I am very aware of weight restrictions on many of the European (lower cost) airlines. The Tarmac 25 weighs the same as my old 22″ Atlantic as they cleverly use different fabric types in different parts of the bag depending on potential wear points. The zippers and wheels feel very sturdy. Finally, the “no matter what” warranty sealed the deal for me. This size is too large to carry on, so we’ll see how it does on it’s upcoming maiden journey.

Few days later, I checked on it and it still had the smell. <br/>I then sprayed lysol inside the suitcase and left it out to air dry AGAIN. STILL had the smell.<br/><br/>I leave a small bag of potpourri in each suitcase (lilac/jasmine courtesy of my savvy grandma) and travel with it. It barely covers the smell. I also like to use luggage organizer and even with the separate pouches, it still has a light scent lingering. I have to take my clothes out of the case immediately, and leave the suitcase open to help with the smell.<br/><br/>Overall, it's sturdy. I travel at least 5 times a year domestically, changing at least 5-6 flights per trip and it holds well. It is lighter than my samsonite. If it wasn't for the smell, I'd love it. Be aware of the smell., October 28, 2011

As soon as I opened the box, there was this foul odor.
I imagined as if all the foul smelling chemicals were combined together to create this kind of smell.

I thought maybe it’s the box or the packaging, so I opened the suitcases to air out. Few days later, I checked on it and it still had the smell.
I then sprayed lysol inside the suitcase and left it out to air dry AGAIN. STILL had the smell.

I leave a small bag of potpourri in each suitcase (lilac/jasmine courtesy of my savvy grandma) and travel with it. It barely covers the smell. I also like to use luggage organizer and even with the separate pouches, it still has a light scent lingering. I have to take my clothes out of the case immediately, and leave the suitcase open to help with the smell.

Overall, it’s sturdy. I travel at least 5 times a year domestically, changing at least 5-6 flights per trip and it holds well. It is lighter than my samsonite. If it wasn’t for the smell, I’d love it. But because of the smell, I end up using my boring samsonite more often than the heys.
